The Cherryhill Township Volunteer Fire Company received notice of a grant award from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program in the amount of $150,000. The goal of the grant is to replace end of service Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) that provide respiratory protection for firefighters working in oxygen deficient environments.

The grant will provide 21 new harness/backpacks, 21 air masks and 42 air cylinders. Fire company officials reported that many of their harness/backpacks are over 20 years old and many of their masks have been rebuilt from used spare masks parts donated to the fire company from other fire departments or local vendors.

Jody Rainey, Fire Chief/Treasurer of the Cherryhill Township Fire Company said, "this award was very much needed to assure the the equipment our volunteers deserve to enhance their personal safety on the fire ground. The grant also assures our fire company will remain fiscally solvent for years to come."

Fire company officials expressed their gratitude to Decoplan Associates for their assistance in the development of the AFG application. The also expressed appreciation to their community and supporters near and far for their continued support.
