| The Cherryhill Township Fire Company held its annual Kids Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4. Ninety-five children and their families attended the event, which featured a special visit from the Easter Bunny. Registration began at 9:00 a.m. for children 12 and under. At registration, children received gifts and treats courtesy of the Penn Run Wesleyan Church, along with tickets from the fire company to participate in a drawing for additional prizes provided by the Easter Bunny.
Before the egg hunt, children had the opportunity to visit the Engine House, explore a fire truck, and see the equipment used by firefighters who help keep the community safe.
After registration, the Easter Bunny escorted the children to the designated Egg Hunt area. Children were grouped by age: 3 and under, 4–6, 7–9, and 10–12. Each group enjoyed hunting and gathering eggs in their designated space. Upon completing their hunt, the children returned to the fire station to exchange their eggs for Easter baskets, compliments of the Cherryhill Township Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary.
Once all groups received their baskets, drawings were held for prizes provided by the Easter Bunny. The event concluded with a drawing for tricycles and bicycles donated by Sabo’s Garage (Jr. Sabo), Cherryhill Safety Services (John Rainey), Ken and Becky Zemlock, Ed and Edna Lutman, and Larry Henry.
Throughout the morning, the Easter Bunny observed many children helping others and sharing eggs with those who had found fewer. The Easter Bunny reminded everyone that being kind and helpful is always good.
The Cherryhill Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary began the annual Easter Egg Hunt in the mid-1970s. The tradition has continued every year since its inception. The fire company is especially thankful for social members Becky Zemlock, Connie Ringler, and Deb Cover, who serve as lead coordinators for the current hunts, as well as for the assistance of fire company and community members who volunteer each year to make the Easter Egg Hunt special for children and their families. |
